WEHRPASS – FRANZ XAVER BÜCHERL – FREIKORPS EPP / BAYERISCHE SCHÜTZENBRIGADE 21
Description WEHRPASS – FRANZ XAVER BÜCHERL – FREIKORPS EPP / BAYERISCHE SCHÜTZENBRIGADE 21 DETAILS: Wehrpass issued to Franz Xaver Bücherl (also seen as Buecherl), born 2 September 1885 in Waldmünchen, Bavaria. Catholic; occupation Kaufmann. Issued at Landshut (Bavaria) on 23 February 1940. Attractive and complete document featuring a clear portrait photograph of Bücherl as an older reservist in civilian attire. Extensive military history beginning pre-WWI, with long service through the First World War in infantry formations and later transition into Bavarian aviation (Flieger) units—an appealing and less common combination. Postwar entries document service in Freikorps Epp and Bayerische Schützenbrigade 21, both heavily involved in the suppression of the Bavarian Soviet Republic in 1919. Freikorps Epp, under General von Epp, is one of the most recognized Freikorps formations and later contributed personnel to the Reichswehr, making this a particularly desirable historical association. Recalled for WWII-era service in the Luftwaffe, assigned to Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 25, including service with 1. Batterie and Stabs-Batterie. Additional entries show Kraftfahr (motor transport) training and an officer course (B40) in Munich, as well as assignment within Luftgau VII (Neubiberg). Classified Landwehr I and subsequently released. Rank progression includes Unteroffizier (1910), Vizefeldwebel (1914), and Leutnant der Reserve (24 November 1914).
