Though this stone was sourced to me as peridot and tests as peridot, the structure is opaque with medium translucency. Peridot is the birthstone for the month of August and according to lore, it is a blessing from the Goddess Pele designed to bestow a sense of joy and renewal.This La Pieta Peridot Rosary measures approximately 35 inches around the loop, with an additional 6.5 inches for the pendant from the centerpiece to the bottom of the cross. The centerpiece itself is 26 mm (1 inch) and the Madonna and Child cross is 50 mm (2 inches). Again, both are hand cast .925 sterling silver. The wire work and findings are also sterling silver.Silver will patina over time, revealing highlights with your touch. I have added a high quality protective coating to my silver which will delay patina changes for a time.
